New York is very Joeish.

NYC is very Joeish.

1. Joe and the Juice: they had a stellar 2022.
2. Joe Coffee: 20+ locations across New York City.
3. Joe’s Pizza: named a “Greenwich Village institution."
4. Trader Joe’s: the best supermarket in NYC. Sorry, I’m biased.
5. Joe’s Shanghai: arguably the most famous Chinese restaurant in Manhattan

I looked up why that’s the case, but I couldn’t find much. So I did some research:

(Talk about a rainy weekend)

Yes: a couple of the businesses' founders are actually Joes, but that’s not the whole story.

Only a small percentage of businesses carry their inventor’s name.

“Joe” seems to be the prevalent case. It works so well because:

→ It evokes familiarity. And it sounds habitual.
→ It’s a simple name - people remember it easily.
→ It has a high degree of usability. And marketability.
→ Somehow, it transports people back to the old times.
→ Many Italian immigrants who opened restaurants in America were Joes. Joe’s Pizza was founded by Joe Pozzuoli from Naples, Italy.

All key factors in naming a business in Manhattan's jungly landscape. If you want something easy, catchy, and memorable… "Joe" might just do it for you.

Plus, let’s be honest.

There’s a reason why it's “The Average Joe” and NOT “The Average Archibald.”

Imagine? “Archibald and the Juice?”
